Who hasn’t heard of this guy? If you are unaware of this amazing man, Wim Hof ‘The Iceman’ is an extreme athlete who has made a name for himself by being able to challenge his body in all kinds of extreme temperatures, with only…...his breath!
Just by breathing, you may be asking, but it’s true. Something we all completely take for granted. Our Prana, our lifeforce.
Hof has been sharing his method of breath work and cold therapy to help people, from improving energy levels, workout recovery, sleep to migraine relief and boosting our immune system. His methods have been backed up by scientific experiments and research projects - and the results are only for the Good!
Give it a go. And it starts with something as simple as a cold shower.

2. Roller Skating
Imagine hot summer days on Californian beaches, cruising by the blue waves of the ocean. The sleek and stylish beach-side activity has become a popular workout form. If you’re looking for a shake up in your fitness, Skating may be for you. A great way to get outside and try out your moves on the concrete. It has absolutely no downside, it’s a mood-booster, works the entire body, improves your endurance & is a fun way to get around time.
3. Skipping
Aww, Take me back to my school days, each break time we would have competitions to see how long we could jump or how many ropes we could jump at once.
Well , Skipping has come back into ‘fashion’ in a very competitive manner.
Skipping may be seen as a very basic activity, but it is wonderful cardiovascular exercise whilst conditioning the body. And great to do at home!
From simple repetitions to technical arms swings to dance routines. The choices for moving the body are endless, and all you need is a rope! There are a wide array of accounts on Instagram that can inspire you to get skipping to your favourite tunes.
4. SELF CARE!
The world has truly come to recognize the important and simple incorporation of self-care, nourishment, love.
Self-care doesn’t have to be this extreme glamorous spa-day. It can be as simple as spending 5 minutes with yourself and a cup of tea. Lighting a candles. Reading a book. Taking in the moment. Listening to yourself, noticing what is coming up.
That’s the best form of self-care. Just being with yourself & acting kindly.
5. Outdoor workouts
Yes, outdoor workouts don’t just have to consist of a daily morning run. Especially during the pandemic, the chance to branch out in the big-outdoors was something we suddenly recognised as a true luxury. And that’s where people are taking to parks, beaches, playgrounds, gardens, to move their body. From HIIT, to Yoga, to weight lifting. The choices for moving the body whilst enjoying some fresh air & an Vitamin D.
Perhaps, if you’re needing a shake-up in your morning workout. Why not step into the gorgeous day ahead of you and take in all the sights and sounds whilst getting your sweat on.
6. oooOOOOMMMMmmm....Meditation
You may ask, ‘what is so good about sitting with your eyes closed & try and stop thinking?’
Meditation is really rising in popularity, but also importance in incorporating into our busy everyday-lives.
Meditation is recognised in the Yoga for quieting the mind, but also looking deeper within ourselves to find peace. And, with meditation, there are no downsides to practicing it!
From improving sleep to diminishing migraines, meditation is the best form of medicine that is completely free. Give it a try and see what comes up.
7. Walking
Such an underestimated but fantastic way to move the body. Especially if you’ve been stuck at your desk all day. Watching the clock until it’s 5’oclock.
Many studies have shown that we get an immediate ‘mood-booster’ when we step out into nature/the world, lowers stress levels, reduces anxiety and depression, improves our sleep, whilst having all the great physical benefits to the body.
So, a simple walk can be seen as the best thing during these rather stressful & unpredictable times. And it’s the best excuse to step away from the screens for 30 minutes.
8. Online classes
This has especially risen in popularity over the last 12 months, with us all being stuck at home, trying to keep fit.
Online classes are great as we can still connect with our teachers from our favourite studios and reap nothing but the benefits! There are so many classes, from HIIT to Cycling, to weight training to Pilates, to Yoga. The choices are endless!
